Looking for a new softop for your Wrangler JK? Rampage has developed a frameless top for both two and four door Wranglers that will replace the factory top and only costs around $400. The Rampage top is generally not a popular as other brands (like Bestop and Pavement Ends), but they do have some innovative features, like a storage pouch that you put your windows in when not installed (look at the video further down for more info).
The pros:
The window storage pouch is really nice. One of the main reasons that windows get scratched is that they are rolled up, or just lay loose in the back. Storing them away in this pouch prevents scratches, and frees up space (which is always at a premium in a Jeep.
The windows are huge. Since there is no frame, the windows can be much larger. This provides much more visibility and is just better overall.
The cons:
This kit is designed to replace a worn out factory top, so it requires Door Surrounds, Tailgate Bar and Windshield channel. If you don’t already have these, you’re going to have to pony up some more money.
Fitment – there have been complaints from the 4 door guys that this top has gaps, and just fits poorly. Remarks of a poor fit are not universal though – this is generally a highly rated top.
Our thoughts
If you don’t have the money for a Bestop, or your stock frame is missing or bent, then this may be a good choice. The storage pocket for your windows is perfect if you’re the type to keep the windows out until you see the rain butts
