Wrangler YJs look great with a lift and bigger tires! Considering the newest YJ out there is over 20 years old, most can really use a set of new springs that articulate smoothly – the right quality of my leaf sprung Jeep was vastly improved by adding a lift kit with new springs and shocks. When picking a lift kit for your YJ, you want to get a complete kit, one that includes new leaf springs, shocks, bushings, u-bolts, possbly even brake lines and a pitman arm, depending on the new ride height.
Installing a lift kit on a YJ is pretty straight forward – just be sure to squirt some penetrating oil on all the suspension components for a couple of days before the install, this will make taking everything apart much easier, and speed up the install.
